Warm can see your accounts, but it cannot move money

Some finance apps connect to your bank so you can see balances and transactions. The connection can show information your bank shares, but it cannot withdraw money, send transfers, or change account details.

Warm paid plans can connect to 12,000+ banks and financial institutions. Warm does not sell user data or use financial information to train AI models.

A bank connection can show your account information.

Your bank connection can show information your bank shares, such as balances and transactions. It cannot withdraw money, send transfers, or change your bank account details.

The connection cannot change anything at your bank. You can still use the app to save a budget or change a display setting.

A finance app can keep the information it receives from your bank. The bank permission screen shows what the connection can do. The app’s privacy policy should explain what it stores and who else can receive it.

A balance shows how much money is in an account at a point in time. A transaction shows money entering or leaving an account. Banks share records at different times, and a connection may not include every account or transaction. Check the date and selected accounts before you rely on a number.

Warm cannot move money from your bank account.

Warm’s bank connections can show account information. They cannot pay bills, move funds, or change account details at your bank. The app needs separate permission from your bank to make a payment or transfer. Check what permission the app requests before you agree.

When you connect a bank to Warm, you choose which accounts Warm can show.

You sign in through your bank.

Warm uses Plaid to connect supported bank accounts. You can connect your bank in three steps.

  1. First, choose your bank in Warm. Plaid opens a window where you connect to your bank.
  2. Second, follow the steps for your bank. Warm does not receive your bank password.
  3. Third, choose which accounts to add. Plaid sends Warm the available balances, investment details, and transactions.

Before you agree, check that the bank name and account list match what you want to add. Stop if the window shows a bank you do not recognize or asks you to approve a payment. Ask Warm or Plaid to explain the request, and continue when you understand what the connection can do.

Plaid sends Warm the account information you allowed it to show. The available information depends on your bank and the accounts you choose.

Warm stores the information it needs to show your accounts.

Warm receives balances, investment details, and transactions from Plaid. Warm also stores information you enter or import. The privacy policy explains what Warm collects and how it uses your information. It also explains how to request access to your information, export it, or ask Warm to delete it.

Warm shows the information on your account and transaction pages. You can also enter information or import a supported file. Warm Free can import CSV files, which store transaction data in rows and columns. Plus and Pro can also import OFX files, a format for financial data. Importing either file adds information to Warm without connecting to a bank.

After you connect a bank, review the accounts Warm added and keep only the ones you want to see. Check how to stop future updates and what happens to stored information if you disconnect the bank or delete your account. You may need separate steps to disconnect a bank and delete stored information.

Warm does not sell financial information or use it for ads, and it does not store your bank password. If you turn on an AI feature, Warm may send the information it needs to the AI service you choose.

Warm does not use your financial information to train AI models. Each AI service has its own rules for keeping and using information, so read its rules before you turn on an AI feature.

AI features stay off until you turn them on, and connecting a bank does not turn them on. Read the setting and its description before you enable a feature.

Check what an app can do before you connect it.

Before you connect a finance app, make sure you can get clear answers to the questions below.

  • Find out whether the app can show account information, move money, or make changes.
  • Check where you enter your bank username and password and which service handles the connection.
  • Ask what information the app stores and who else receives it. Ask whether the app sells information or uses it to train AI models.
  • Find out how to stop the connection and what happens to stored information after you disconnect or delete your account.

If the answers are unclear, read the app’s privacy policy and bank permission screen before you continue. For Warm, review the privacy policy and the security page before connecting an account.

You can also ask support what information the app receives, which service handles the bank connection, and how to stop updates or request deletion of stored information.
