Common questions
What file formats are supported?
We support both CSV and OFX (Open Financial Exchange) files. For CSV files, our system automatically detects and imports from 8 bank formats including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, American Express, Discover, and US Bank. OFX files work with virtually any financial institution that supports the standard.
Will it create duplicate transactions?
No. We check for duplicates based on transaction date, amount, and description. You can safely import files that overlap with existing transactions - we'll only add the new ones.
Can I import to accounts that are already connected via Plaid?
Yes. This is useful for adding historical data from before you connected the account. Our duplicate detection ensures you won't see the same transaction twice.
What if my bank's CSV format isn't recognized?
Our automatic format detection works with most major banks. If we can't detect your format automatically, you'll have a chance to manually map the columns. If you run into issues, reach out to support - we're always improving our format detection.
